Looking for dog harness reviews? Well if you are like most people, it can be pretty difficult to find just one good review on any of the dog harnesses on the market today. Especially when many of the “good” reviews seem to be from “hobbyists” who have never owned a dog harness before and have no clue what they are talking about. But hang on there! Let’s look at a few reasons dog harnesses are better than other dog collars.

First, let’s start with durability. Big Dog Soft Leather Reflective No Pull Harness, as I call it, is extremely durable, very strong and makes walking your dog virtually effortless. The grab handle provides you with superb control over your dog while still the sturdy and padded interior offers your dog more comfort. This particular dog harness also comes with a reflective material that will make it easier for you to see your dog in the headlights from a stand or path. This can be really handy for walks where there may be another dog by your side. I highly recommend this one.

Second, let’s take a look at comfort. It’s important to me that my dog has comfortable harnesses because they keep him nice and cool and prevent the hot sun from burning his skin. I don’t want him to get sun burn and besides if he’s not wearing a big dog soft reflective harness he will be awfully hot. A lot of the big dog harnesses have a liner that will absorb some of the heat, but if your dog is a “hot dog” and sweats a lot during the summer months, you may want to opt for a different style. A lightweight reflective harness with a lining that absorbs the heat won’t do much in the way of keeping him cool. A light weight harness with a lining that is more breathable will fare better.

Third, consider the ease of attaching the leash to the front of the chest. There are many different styles and brands of chest harness. The most common style I see is the front chest harness that attaches with a snap to the front of the chest so you can easily walk your dog without the need to tie him up. If your dog loves to run and I’m pretty sure that your dog does, than a front chest leash would be beneficial.

Fourth, consider the pull dog harness. This is really just a collar with a buckle that goes over your dog’s head and around his neck. It attaches to the leash and you can adjust the pull according to how far you want to pull him forward. I prefer a heavier pull with my smaller dogs so he can hold on to the leash. The pull dog harnesses are usually the most comfortable and allow you to walk your dog without any problems.

Fifth, there are collars for large dogs and small dogs. If you have larger dogs, such as German Shepherds, you will most likely want a collar that goes around their neck instead of a chest harness. This allows your dog to have some room to wiggle and plays around with his leash. These collars are also more secure and help prevent other animals from attacking your dog. A good collar for large dogs is the Alaskan Outback Collar or the Great Plains Collar.

Six, consider the convenience of having your dog harness or dog collar handy while out walking. You no longer have to hand your pooch a bag of treats, sit on the steps with him, or carry his leash. He can come with you, but it’s a lot easier to just strap on a dog harness and walk in the park. I know that my poodle often times has to wait at the park entrance until I’ve used my leash. You also save money on dog snacks by purchasing a snack bag with a snack for each pet and pop them into his carrier on your walks. These bags even come with a handy place to put a coin.

Seventh, consider the overall look and comfort of a dog harness and dog collar. They do not have to be difficult to use, but be sure that they fit well and don’t dig into your skin. Be careful that they aren’t so snug that your neck is squeezing into the strap. And remember that it’s not only your dog’s comfort that you should be looking for, but also the style and color of your harness.
